How to get a Sim card

Travellers visiting Hong Kong can buy prepaid SIM cards from a variety of providers, including major mobile network operators and local telecom companies (3, 1010, CSL, HKT). These prepaid SIM cards can be purchased at many locations, including airports, convenience stores, and mobile phone shops.

Travellers who plan to use their existing mobile service from their home country in Hong Kong may need to check with their service provider to confirm roaming charges and whether their mobile device is compatible with Hong Kong’s network. Roaming charges can be expensive, so it’s usually more cost-effective to purchase a local prepaid SIM card if you plan to use your phone frequently during your stay.
